You walked in the room, carrying two very heavy boxes into your new dorm room. You just got into collage, and it was already hard! You went to the office to get your dorm keys, only to discover the collage neglected to give you a room. You had to wait a bit before getting your own dorm, and when they did get you a dorm, it was in the male dormitories. You weren’t a very good student, and were barely accepted.
“Just my luck” You thought crossly.
You set the boxes down on to what you thought was going to be your bed. You sat down and took a large breath, and closed your (e/c) eyes. When you opened them, you found a small polar bear at your legs.
“Who are you?” It said.
You just froze. Did you fall asleep? You pinched yourself. Nope, not a dream.
“U-uh, I’m _____ _____...” You said, a little scared at the fact that there was a polar bear in your room, and even more so because it could talk.
“Mr. Kumajirou?!” Said a voice, barely audible to your ears.
A man with violet-blue eyes came in. He had glasses and blond hair with one hair out of place, put into a long curl. You wondered if it ever got into his way of seeing. The bear turned around, and cocked its head.
“Who are you?” The bear said, assuming it was Mr.Kumajirou.
“I’m Canada! Your owner!” The man said.
“Your who?!” You said, hoping your ears weren’t playing tricks on you.
The man turned to you, bewildered a bit, then proceeded to pick up Mr.Kumajirou.
“Oh, I’m Mathew Williams, You’re next-door neighbor.” He said.
“But the Office lady said that I wasn’t going to have any neighbors. She said that these rooms became available when two men moved out…” You said.
“Oh, it seems I’ve been forgotten about again…” He said, his voice had a hint of sadness that you detected. Hoping you didn’t offend him, you stood up, and put out your hand.
“I’m ____ ____” You said.
“N-nice to meet you, ____” he said, his voice still barely above a whisper.

From there on out, you started talking to him, and learning a lot about him. You learned his friend not only nicknamed him Canada, but he was the actually personification of Canada! You also learned that people forget about him a lot, and he can disappear, whether he likes it or not. You begged him to teach you how, but he said it wasn’t a teachable thing, and you were just too well known. You also found out he loves maple syrup and he has a brother named Alfred, and he was the Personification of America. Over time, you slowly became friends and before you knew it, you had a crush on him.
“Hey! _____” Said a loud voice.
You looked over to Alfred and Mathew, who were walking down to you.
“Hi Alfred, Hi Mathew” You said.
“So, ____, do you want to come over to our dorm for a movie tonight! Were watching Paranormal Activity 3!”
You almost said yes, it was Friday afternoon, after all, But then you thought for a moment, wasn’t Alfred afraid of scary movies?
“Alfred, that movie is pretty scary…” You started
“You aren’t scared, are you?” He said.
“No, but you hate scary movies!” You said.
“Please!” He said, “Everyone will be there!”
“That’s making it worse” You said, rolling your eyes.
“Please, can you come” Said Canada. You said yes.
“YAY!” Said America.
~Timeskip~
You were sitting on Alfred’s couch and looking at all the people that arrived early like you did. Arthur brought scones, or at least though they were scones, Mathew brought Maple syrup, even though there was nothing to put it on, Kiku brought a bunch of Japanese treats that he refused to share, and Yao brought his Panda. You had brought cookies, which were half gone because Alfred and the others all liked to eat before the movies. You had to hide the cookies so nobody would eat them before the movies. You almost fell asleep when Alfred popped in the room.
“Alright! Everyone here?” Alfred yelled.
“What about Mathew? And Ivan?” Asked Yao.
“I’m right here…” Mathew said, but nobody heard him.
“I didn’t invite Ivan.” Alfred said.
“But we can’t start the movie without Mathew, Aru!” Yao called out.
“I’m right here…” Mathew said again.
“I thought I saw Mathew-san wark in…” Kiku said.
You started to get annoyed. I mean, Mathew was right next to you! You looked over, only to see a faint outline on Mathew there. It was time for you to take action. Mathew’s friends even forgot about him!
“HEY! MAYBE IF YOU’D GUYS PAY ATTENTON AND LOOK AROUND, YOU COULD FIND MATHEW. HE’S RIGHT OVER HERE YOU BAKAS!” You screamed, (Some of your inner okatu coming out), Kiku shot you a glare. You knew he didn’t like it when someone used his own language wrongly. You didn’t care though.
“Sheesh, ____!” Yao said.
“I found Mathew!” Alfred yelled. Mathew’s outline was becoming more visible and you could see him again.
“About time…” You said. You sat back down near Mathew.
“T-thanks” He whispered. Why was he stuttering? His face also looked very red. Did you embarrass him? Is he sick? You didn’t know.
Alfred popped in the movie and sat down near Kiku. As soon as the movie came on, Alfred grabbed on to Kiku, freaking out about every little thing. Kiku had on his “Oh God Why” face. It made you laugh a bit. You looked back at the screen, and watched. Whenever a scary moment came, you pretty hugged Mathew’s arm, making him go a bit redder. When the scary parts passed, you realized what you were doing, and let go. You looked at Mathew’s face, it was still red.
“Is something wrong Mathew? You seem a little odd…” You whisper.
“N-no, everything is fine…” He whispered back.
“HEY! Were trying to watch Aru!” Yao yelled at you.
“Sorry Yao!” you whispered back.
There was a brief intermission, and you went up to get a drink. Alfred pulled you aside.
“What?” you asked.
“Hey, do you like Mathew?” He asked rather loudly.
“What? Why? And keep your voice down!”You said sternly.
“Because he likes you! So do you?” He asked.
“W-well, uh, I-I don’t k-know…” You stuttered, your face becoming very hot.
“So you do like him? I knew it! I’m going to get you two set up!” Alfred said.
“What? NO!” You said, but it was too late. He was running over to Mathew.
‘Oh no…” You said, pressing your hands to your face.
“Alright dudes! Let’s get back to the movie!” Alfred said, now sitting near Yao because Kiku moved over. You took your place back near Mathew, but sat a little apart. What would he say? What would he do? The movie turned back on, and you hugged the chair instead at the scary parts. Mathew seemed a little sad about this. The movie ended and it was time for everyone to go back to their dormitories. You and Mathew walked down the hallway together in silence, you looking down. What did Alfred do? You arrived at your dorm, and was about to go in when you heard Mathew speak.
“Goodnight, _____” he said.
“Goodnight Mathew…” You said sadness polluting your voice.
“Wait, Uh…” Mathew said.
“Yes?” you asked
“Alfred told me that you liked me, and-“He started, but you cut him off.
You kissed him.
Wait? What? You were kissing him?
YOU WERE KISSING HIM!
You kissed him on the cheek, and went back onto your feet. You felt rejection flow over you when you say Mathew’s face. It was as red as the Maple leaf on the Canadian flag. You looked down and walked into your room, shutting the door behind you. You sat down on your bed and stared at the ceiling. What did you just do?! You put a pillow on your face and cried a bit, when you heard a knock on your door. You opened the door.
“What do you-“You started, but was cut off by Mathew kissing you. ON THE LIPS.
You stumbled back a bit, shocked at what was happening, and as soon as you realized what was happening, you close your eyes, and relaxed. As soon as you broke apart, you looked up.
“I like you too…” Mathew said, his face about as red as it could get.
You pulled Mathew into a hug, he tensed, and hugged right back, and you stayed there until you heard a voice in Mathew’s dorm.
“Who are you?” Mr. Kumajirou asked.
“Well, who are you?” You asked the bear laughing.
You broke apart from Mathew reluctantly. Mathew picked up his bear and turned to go into his dorm.
“Goodnight ____” he said.
“Goodnight Mathew” You said back. You turned back into your room and closed the door.
You so owed Alfred one.
